Description
Chrisnetia Green Light (Christensonia vietnamica x Neof. falcata) is a popular Neo hybrid that reaches heights of approx. 11 inches (24 cm) with a moderate leaf span. The flowers are generally cream colored with green accents. The flowers are sometimes fragrant, and I especially like their very strong nectary spurs which make them look more substantial than the fairy-like Neo flowers.
Christnetia Green Light is amenable to any potting method: pots, baskets, or bare root (not recommended unless you water every day). I have had the fastest growth in small baskets with very chunky bark and charcoal or Growstone. The roots grow vigorously and are a great indicator of general plant happiness. Very easy to grow: intermediate light, warm to intermediate temperatures, and water well then allow to dry out. If you have it in a basket, you can water it every day. If you find that the roots are drying out, add more chunky mix to the pot or basket to maintain more humidity around the roots.
These plants need to be a good size to bloom reliably, I have found. After growing some for about three years, they are now big, usually with side growths, and spiking like mad. I think they’re well worth the wait because the flowers are really substantial and pretty, and the plant itself is my favorite of the Neo hybrids as it favors the Christensonia parent.
