Phragmipedium

While there’s no such thing as a blue Phragmipedium, art can defy reality to interesting and often beautiful ends.  The cool colors set a mood here.  This mixed media orchid-inspired painting was created by Robin Street-Morris using a carving technique that results in the substantial, archival paper absorbing the transparent watercolor and powdered soft pastel more heavily where the lines were incised.  The dimensions of this unique piece are 10″ x 16″ (23 x 41cm).
