Description
Dendrobium hekouense is a relatively newly discovered species native to China. Although the plant is a super mini, the flowers are super cool: white with purple veining and a dark, almost black, bowl-like throat. It is a very unusual flower that I fell in love with instantly. The plants bloom when very small–as few as 2-3 pseudobulbs. They come from cool climes, but I had mine in the greenhouse all last summer, and they look great (that’s over 100 degrees in summer). If you are a lover of dendrobiums or miniatures (or better yet BOTH), you must have this guy.

This mounted plant has been thriving. I love how little it is, yet I have what looks like a spike developing on it. I cannot wait to see its flowers! Nice, beautiful roots growing up and around. Truly has become one of my favorites, and it looks nice just the way it came mounted from NWO.
