Description
Dendrobium anosmum (semi alba) is a pendulous, deciduous cane orchid native to Malaysia, Laos, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Philippines, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. It is hot to cool growing and needs a distinct dry period starting in October until the new leads appear sometime in the early spring. It blooms in the spring at the nodes along the length of the leafless canes, and the flowers are very fragrant. When the new growths appear in the late spring it is time to water and fertilize this plant heavily as it will grow up to 3′ (1 m) long by October when it is time to dry it out again. These young plants come potted but should be put in a basket for best effect.
