Description
Dendrobium linawianum is found only in Taiwan and Kwangsi province of southern China as a small- to medium-sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with shiny, knobby, slightly flattened canes of bright green. A very striking plant, I think. D. linawaianum falls into the group that I call the “flat-caned guys” (very original) which includes D. lamellatum, D. platygastrium, and D. trantuanii. D. linawianum blooms in the late winter and early spring from the upper nodes producing showy, purple flowers.
As with many dendrobiums, water and fertilize liberally in summer, and slack off for a slightly drier winter rest to initiate blooming in the early spring.
Temperature: Hot-Cool
Light: Moderate
Water: Water well in summer, back off in winter
