Description
Wuttipanara Manoonya (Perreiraara Bangkok Sunset x Rhynvandopsis Dixie Delight) takes a recent favorite (Bangkok Sunset) and ramps up the color. Where Bangkok Sunset has beautiful hues of lavender, pink, and orange, Wuttipanara Manoonya has more intense colors of red and orange with a hint of purple on the lip. The plants are almost identical to one another, so size-wise, the two orchids are identical. Plants stay relatively compact, very similar to the Rhynchostylis parent.
Although I grow most of these in baskets, I have experimented with clay pots, and they do beautifully potted in a loose mix of large bark and grow stone (any inert potting medium could be subbed–wine corks are great). This is a great alternative for people who can’t water baskets every day. Grow intermediate to warm, moderate light. High light (and even moderate light) will result in a lot of freckling–it’s not a bad thing, but some people don’t like it.
