Quick Picks:
The show season is in full swing, and you are all probably stocking up on new orchids. As your collection grows, mine shrinks! That’s okay, because I love any excuse to buy more orchids. I try to keep old favorites in stock, but it’s also exciting to add new guys to my offerings. The hardest part is making them available to you online. Because this new group is so limited in quantities (one or two of each), I’m trying a quicker way to get them out to you. Under “What’s New” or “Miscellaneous” you can find three groups of South American orchids sorted by genus. Once they’re gone, they are gone, so run, do not walk! Included are some much sought after guys like Lepanthes, Masdevallias, and Draculas as well as a whole bunch of Restrepias.
Restocks Coming:
If there are other guys that you’ve been waiting to see come back in stock, I hope you won’t have to wait too long. I’m expecting more plants in March. I’ll let everyone know when they come in. Meanwhile, start looking at your current collection with an eye toward repotting if needed. Growth is definitely picking up (although it’s currently 20 degrees and snowing here), so more water and fertilizer should be on the menu for your orchids.
Online Orders:
If you have purchased orchids online, just know that shipping remains erratic as the temperature goes up and down like a yo-yo. It was 90 degrees in the greenhouse yesterday (70 outside), and today the heaters are on as the temperature plummeted outside. Plant safety is my primary concern, and I do not ship when it’s too cold for the heat packs to keep up. As it says on your purchase confirmation, I usually ship within 10 BUSINESS days except during cold weather. Please have patience.
