Shipping as of March 22, 2024: It’s been really cold this week, and we have even had snow. Next week looks great, and my goal is to be completely caught up by Wednesday!
Thank you all VERY MUCH for supporting New World Orchids. It is my pleasure to provide you with quality plants that I hope will bring you great happiness. The following should answer many of the questions you have about the shipment of your orchids which I know are precious to you. PLEASE do not contact me with shipping queries until you have read this (especially the next paragraph). Answering these questions eats up time I want to use for mailing orders.
My new partner, Route:
Route is a new service I have signed onto to help with shipping issues. They handle any problems once the plants have left the greenhouse. Questions about tracking? Contact them. Problems with plants damaged during shipping? Contact them. The service is not free, however, so to encourage people to use it, I reduced the cost of shipping by $2 to cover the cost you incur by insuring your package with Route. You are not required to use the service, but I will no longer be dealing with any post-shipping problems. I wanted to clear that off my plate especially for the Christmas season!
Mailing Orchids: Orchids can endure long periods in the mail. Your orchids HAVE endured long periods in the mail. Although I will no longer be answering questions about plants once they are out the door (see previous paragraph), 10 years of shipping shows that 99.9% of packages arrive with plants unscathed by even the longest delays.
Expect delays between ordering and shipping: This may not happen, but sometimes two weeks elapse between ordering and shipping. I am a one chick band, so your order may not go out the door for a week (or more). Once the orchids are in the mail, you can contact Route with any further questions.
Post Office Holds: Consider having your plants held at the post office if you are worried about them sitting outside upon delivery. You can note that you would like them held in the NOTES section when you order.
Winter Shipping: I plan to ship nearly all winter with the help of 72 hour heat packs which are included at no additional cost if I think they are necessary. If you are ordering plants that are all super cold tolerant, I might not include one depending on the expected temperatures. If it is extremely cold (below 20 during the day), I will not ship at all.

Good Morning,
I would like to know if you ship to Canada?
Thanking you in advance.
Yours truly

A common question! Sorry, I can’t ship plants to Canada, although you are legally able to transport them across yourself. If you have friends in the US or are visiting, you can have plants delivered to you, and take plants (no soil) across the border yourself.

The coupon expired? The website says you extended the date?

Hi! I placed an order on Jan. 10 and haven’t heard anything. Are you still holding shipments for better weather?

I had an issue with plants fried by heat in transit back in August 2023 and have yet to receive a response.

That’s what I’m talking about–I just get buried and then I forget to follow up. I just sent you an email about a replacement plant. Thanks!

I order an orchid on Feb 20, 2024. I tried to sigh up with Route, but it was beyond me. Order #11985. When can I expect my orchid? Thank you!
