Description
Sophronitis cernua is native to South America and is a relatively easy orchid to grow as it is more tolerant of warm temperatures than its relative, Sophronitis coccinea. Soph. cernua has a creeping habit with small round pseudobulbs and very fleshy, rounded, dark green leaves that form a dense cover over the mount’s surface. Although usually grown on a mount, plants can be grown in a shallow pot. Grow in intermediate temperatures with intermediate light, and keep moist but not wet. Blooms in early spring with fluorescent orange flowers and neon pink column.
