Cattleya is a South American genus of orchids characterized by large, showy flowers. The cattleyas are one of the orchids traditionally used in making corsages. Because they are so showy, they are also popular in hybridizing among themselves and with others.
Cattleyas grow well in moderate to high light and intermediate to warm conditions. They do not like wet feet, so they do well with benign neglect, but do keep an eye out for bugs. These guys must be a little sweeter than some other plants.
