Description
Vanda Petite Bouquet (Ascofinetia Cherry Blossom x Ascocentrum ampullaceum) is a beautiful hybrid that reaches approx. 6-8 inches (20cm) and produces offshoots readily rather than super tall growths. Although you will see pictures of this plants’ flowers online that are solid pink, these are very BLUE and very gorgeous. I mean stunning. Every place I have taken this plant in bloom I have sold out. The flowers are medium-sized, abundant, and fragrant–a home run!
We are growing V. Petite Bouquet like a standard Vanda, i.e., in a basket. However, to adjust for our northern, drier climate (compared to Florida), we add very chunky bark and charcoal or Growstone to the baskets. The roots grow vigorously and are a great indicator of general plant happiness. Like other Vandas, grow in high light and warm to hot temperatures. Water well then allow to dry out which will mean daily watering unless you grow this in a pot. If you find that the roots are drying out, add more chunky mix to the pot or basket to maintain more humidity around the roots. You can also grow the plant in a clay pot with a chunky bark mix to minimize watering. I have had excellent success with standard Vandas in pots here in Michigan.
