Neofinetia falcata Tamakongou is one of the most popular varieties of fukiran and probably the most popular bean leaf. It grows quickly forming dense clumps of compact, dark green fans. Flowers are white, star-shaped, up-turned, and short-spurred; they smell just as good as “regular” flowers. The wave tsuke adds to the visual interest of this beautiful little guy.
These plants have at least three and usually four or more growths. In the past I sold this variety by the growth so you could choose your size, but these are great little clumps that do not want to separate. (Read this post for more about splitting Neos.)
Alternate spelling: Tamakongo (although this is not the Japanese version; without the ‘U’ on the end, the last syllable is pronounced incorrectly)
