Description
Neostylis Lou Sneary
Neostylis (Vandachostylis) Lou Sneary, perhaps the most popular Neofinetia hybrid of all time, is the cross of Neofinetia falcata and Rhynchostylis coelestis. Plants are vandaceous and may bloom multiple times a year. Flowers are white with blue/purple accents, and they are very fragrant.
Multi-growth plants, not just singles!
Culture
You can grow Lou like a typical vanda, i.e., in a basket, or you can opt for a pot with coarse medium. Like other vandas, they like to get wet and dry out quickly. In a basket, they should be watered every day, but in a pot, you can decrease watering to once or twice a week–err to the side of being dry except when plants are in bloom. Vandas are heavy feeders during the growing season, so fertilize regularly when it’s warm. I find they grow best in moderate to high light, intermediate to warm temperatures. SUPER EASY.

I was beyond excited when I received this one – well, I’m like that with everything that I have from here, but the fact that I could actually get a beautiful, HEALTHY Vandaceous of any kind that’s all of the above, complete with a superb root system AND in bloom too… for a price that is the same as one would pay for a “noID” Phalaenopsis at [insert name of grocery or home-improvement store here] and get all of this, and after being shipped literally across the country, and to have it not even so much as a single bud? All I can say is “Take my money!” I am beyond happy with my Neostylis, which is my very first foray into orchids that have Neofinetia in their “bloodline” and I’m so happy to have this beautiful example of the “gateway orchid” into the as-yet unfamiliar territory with Neos. They’ve fascinated me for a long time, but I was always a bit afraid of just going for it, and I am 100% certain that I’ve found the spot to get them. I have nine orchids now from New World Orchids, and I’ve ordered a pretty varied grouping, but all have met or exceeded (in this particular case, FAR exceeded) my expectations! Thank you so much for having such, well, perfect orchids.
