Description
Epidendrum medusae is so named for the prominent, snake-like hairs that adorn the lip of the fabulous flower. While the plant itself is quite interesting with pendant, succulent leaves and “stems,” the flower is a knock-out. Dark blood red with a gigantic, fleshy, fringed lip–yeah, it’s something to see. It’s so great, in fact, that it was used to make a great cross, Epidendrum Panama Ruby whose flowers are a brighter red (some might say, um, RUBY red). Both these varieties tick the box for form lovers and flower lovers, as they earn A’s in both categories.
