Vanda Alliance
This is an eclectic mix of orchids in the Vanda Alliance including species (other than Neofinetia falcata) and hybrids. If you have successfully been growing Phalaenopsis, which is a member of the Vanda Alliance, and you're ready to try something new, this category is a good place to start. Vanda relatives generally like a bright window and weekly watering (more often if in a basket). If the roots are fat and white when dry and green when wet, you're doing a good job. Wrinkled roots indicate insufficient watering, and mushy roots indicate overwatering.
People love vandaceous orchids for their beautiful flowers, many of which are fragrant. Flowers come in every color of the rainbow (and then some), and many of them are fragrant. Some plants bloom twice yearly, and often the flowers are long-lasting. Although many members of the Vanda Alliance are huge, most of our offerings will sit happily on your windowsill.
