Just over a year ago, I wrote a letter that was to change my life and, in fact, make one of my wildest wishes come true. Many of you may know that I recently purchased New World Orchids from Glenn at the beginning of the year. What you don’t know is how chance brought us together in the first place. I started working for him the day before his 79th birthday, and we are very near launching this new and improved site today on his 80th birthday.
Thank you, Glenn, for all that you have done for me, my family, and all the Neo lovers out there. You are an inspiration to me and everyone around you.
Much love on your 80th birthday,
I hope you are well and that your orchid collection is waiting out this un-spring-like weather patiently. I don’t know if you recognized my name, but I brought my two boys by your home two summers ago and you very kindly showed me around your beautiful orchid collection and filled me in on many interesting details about them. The orchids I bought from you and my other orchids are doing wonderfully thanks to your recommendation to “fertilize weakly weekly.” They have never looked so good! I am writing because one of my husband’s colleagues is retiring after 25 years, and he is an orchid enthusiast. I don’t know how many orchids or what types of orchids he has, but I know that he has a fair number.
Kevin, my husband, would like to get him something special for his orchid collection, i.e. something other than the phals you can get at any box store these days (not that I don’t have a few myself!). He would love something that has a good story or history – something befitting a retirement of a really special person. Kevin is not sure how much of the donated funds will go to the orchid, but probably in the $50-$75 range, maybe a little more.
Do you have some suggestions from your collection that would fit the bill? The retirement party is next Tuesday, so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!Thank you very much!
