A miniature, terrestrial, cold growing orchid from Japan.
In Japan it’s called “Utyouran” or “Uchouran” 蘭裕園
Irregular tubers give rise to basal, sub erect, linear leaves. The orchid blooms in the late spring and summer on an erect, to 18″ ( 45 cm) long, many flowered inflorescence, flowers are 3/8″ (1.2 cm).
Plant tubers and start watering in spring (from March on) but don’t keep wet. In autumn the plants slowly die of and go in to a rest period and need to be kept cool and dry then. Next spring repot and resume watering slowly, the plants will rise and shine again. Can be grown outdoors whole summer.
